Reminder to complete the Re-Entry 2020 Enrollment form

Greetings Warriors:

I hope that you and your family are safe and healthy. I would like to make sure that you understand the three re-entry options so that you make the best choice for your family.

1.    In-person learning (reporting to Riverside to attend classes) will begin September 8th. The first four days will be an “orientation” week where grade levels and/or smaller student groups will stagger what days they enter the school and have classes. The second and third weeks (September 14th-25th) will be “blended learning” with half the alphabet by the last name going two days, the other half going two days. September 28th, we will go to a full 5 days per week of face to face for students who have chosen the in-person learning option.

2.    E-learning (completely online learning set up on Schoology with Riverside teachers) If you choose this option, you must stick with it for the first semester. There will be required login times with attendance requirements, aligned with the school bell schedule, for students to participate in their courses daily.

3.    KCS Virtual School is a computer-based program, not to be confused with e-Learning. It is self-paced, does not require set log in times. It does not include Riverside teachers, course content or our teacher communication through Schoology. Dr. Valery Harper is the executive director for KCS students enrolled in KCS Virtual school through courses offered by WVDE and its virtual school teachers.

PLEASE complete the KCS enrollment form by Monday, August 10th so we can proceed with finalizing student schedules as soon as possible. You are required to complete all back to school forms before you make your re-entry choice. If you are not able to make that choice online, please contact the school on Monday.

Changes are occurring daily and we are working to ensure your child is safe, healthy, and able to learn in the best possible environment!

Have a wonderful weekend!

KCS Re-Entry 2020 Plan

Greetings Warriors!

KCS has posted its plan for re-entry for the upcoming school year!

https://kcs.kana.k12.wv.us/re-_entry_2020

You, as parents and guardians, are now able to go to the KCS website to make your choice!  There are a lot of details but the simple version is:

  1. Face to face learning in the building.
  2. eLearning with Riverside teachers and utilizing Schoology.
  3. KCS Virtual school.

Take your time and read through the options.  Choose what is best for your family!

Riverside staff has been working to ensure the safety of your children with new procedures of changing classes, entering and exiting the building, and going to get breakfast and lunch.

The NUMBER 1 priority is the health and safety of our students, staff, and community

Remember that we are all going through this together!  As with everything that has happened since March, this may change at any time!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me!

Graduation Ceremony

June 25, 2020, 7:00 PM

https://kcs.kana.k12.wv.us/news/latest_news/kcs_coronavirus_updates

Because of the change involved with COVID-19, the band and chorus will not perform. We are trying to make sure our other traditions are intact to the best of our ability!

Usually, I say, “Dress your best”.  However, we are going to be outdoors and on astroturf.  This could make for a very hot evening.  This is a FORMAL event that you have worked toward for 13 years!  Take it seriously.  LOOK your BEST and be on your BEST behavior!

  • NO jeans!

  • Wear dress clothes under your cap and gown.

  • NO markings on your cap or gown

  • If you wear high heels, they should not be so high that you will have trouble walking in them!  The turf may make you unsteady!

  • You must arrive at 5:00 PM for practice.

  • Parents will be allowed to enter at 6:00 PM

How should I behave?

As mentioned above, these are formal events that are all about you.  We will recognize and honor all of your successes and accomplishments over the past four years.  This is also the time to celebrate one another.  You honor each other by being respectful of each other, the speakers, and the presenters at all events.  Clap when appropriate, cheer when appropriate, and be quiet when appropriate.  Always be RESPECTFUL

BE ON TIME!  BE ON TIME!  BE ON TIME!

What should I bring?

Graduation-Bring your cap and gown!  Bring your Tassel!  No purses, bags, noisemakers, or silly string!

What makes me eligible to participate in the Graduation Commencement Ceremony?

  1. You must have completed ALL 24 credits required to graduate prior to the ceremony!  NO EXCEPTIONS!

  2. You must have taken care of all financial obligations to the school and county.

  3. Turned in (or paid for) your iPad, charging cord, and brick.

Always Be A Student

Keep on learning, Warriors,

Though your high school years are done;

Your whole life’s an education

That has only just begun.

Your diploma is the first big step,

For knowledge is the special key

To winning what you want in life

And being who you want to be.

If you'll always be a student,

You’ll find the secrets to success

And travel on the gold road

To peace and happiness
